The clued in kids are out in force at the Ruby Lounge, Manchester tonight for the incomparable Ron Jeremy of modern funk, Har Mar Superstar, on the promise of a party and chance to hear material from the great one's latest long player, Dark Touch.
The set kicks in with Games Night a bouncing anthem with a bassline heavier than yo' mama's ass.
The crowd are bouncing in as he band rip through favourites such as DUI, Don't Ask Don't Tell and Cut Me Up.
Like a modern day pied piper, Har Mar then leapt from the stage and made a course for the bar where he ordered a Jack Daniels on the rocks (rock 'n' roll!) before leaping upon a sofa in the ruby lounge's cosy lounge area, and from aloft it, performed soon to be firm crowd favourite Sunshine from the new album.
The maestro of funk and his band went into a cover of The Libertines' 'Don't Look Back Into The Sun'.
'Who wants to fuck me?' asks Har Mar Superstar, to a chorus of offers from the crowd.
A truly amazing set was wrapped with an encore of fan-pleaser 'Power Lunch'.
Those lucky enough to have witnessed the Mr Charisma of the indie/dance/funk world strutting his stuff in this unique intimate venue will not forget tonight in a hurry.
10/10! Carlo
