USAIN BOLT OPENS HIS FIRST TRACKS AND RECORDS RESTAURANT OUTSIDE JAMAICA  IN LONDON

Usain Bolt and friends bought Middlesex Street, East London to a standstill on Wednesday night for the opening of his new Jamaican themed restaurant “Tracks and Records”.

With barriers on both sides of the street and side streets to keep the public away and more security on show than at Royal walkabout, expectancy was high for a star studded turn out of sporting elite and A-lister celebs, rumours of Mo Farah, Anthony Joshua and David Haye were amongst those coming certainly seemed to justify these extreme measures, In reality though turnout was disappointingly lacking in “sporting royalty” or any A-listers.

Those who did make the effort and came out to help celebrate with Usain did include, Emeli Sande, Becca Dudley, Kanya King, Leon Bailey and Jamaican Reggae star Chronixx who was extremely camera shy, using the back entrance to avoid the waiting press

Usain Bolt, who had arrived early in the back of a van, did come out and pose for pictures before crossing the street to meet some of his fans who had braved the cold November night for this chance

CELEBRATIONS FOR HRH THE PRINCE OF WALES 70TH BIRTHDAY WITH A 62 GUN SALUTE AT THE TOWER OF LONDON

Wednesday saw a 62 gun salute for HRH Prince of Wales take place at the Tower of London by the Honourable Artillery Company (HAC), the City of London’s Reserve Army Regiment, in ceremonial attire.

The three L118 Ceremonial Light Guns, similar to those used operationally in recent years in Afghanistan, were  used to fire the 62 gun salute across the Thames at ten second intervals.

Whilst a Royal Salute normally comprises 21 guns, this is increased to 41 if fired from a Royal Park or Residence.  Uniquely, at The Tower of London which is a Royal Residence, a total of 62 rounds are fired on Royal anniversaries as this also includes an additional 21 guns for the citizens of the City of London to show their loyalty to the Monarch.
