10/1 Garrettstown the EBF Handicap Hurdle Final value

Garrettstown really caught my eye last time out and at 10/1 looks worth a wager in the EBf Novices’ Handicap Hurdle Final at Sandown today (1.50). That run came at Market Rasen when beaten 1 2/4 lengths by Boldmere in a competitive eight-runner affair and not ideally placed. Prior to the race, trainer Olly Murphy said in an  interview that he would be happy to finish in the one of the qualifying places for this, and I thought Garrettstown was ridden accordingly by Dickie Johnson. He was held-up travelling strongly and only got going late on to be nearest at the finish after the winner had kicked for home. The tactics were strange as he had previously been ridden more positively when opening his account over hurdles at the third time of asking at the same venue in ready fashion. It looked a case of job done, and he now meets Boldmere on 3lb better terms. He is also 5lb better off with the third home Muratello and has nothing to fear from the fourth home Senior Citizen. Underfoot conditions also hold no fears and this stiff track should play to his strengths, so he looks to have plenty going for him in this.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Garrettstown (10/1 generally available – use BOG firms)
