Skylight caught the eye last time out and looks worth siding with at 8/1 in the 5.50 at Kempton today on her first start for Mick Channon now fitted with the visor for the first time.

The filly didn’t show much in three maiden runs when trained by William Haggas, but put up a mcuh improved effort on handicap debut when fifth of 14 to Prince Of Paris over course and distance last month off an opening mark of 60.

The daughter of Acclamation was slowly away that day before quickly making up the lost ground to race in mid division.

She then made a move on the inside three from home and held every chnace a furlong from home until weakening late on to be beaten 2 3/4 lengths after her mid race exertions too their toll.

It was an effort which suggested Skylight would be capable of winning a race of this nature and the handicapper has since dropped her 1lb.

That makes her look handily weighred if she can build on that effort now switched to Channon, and the fitting of the visor for the first time could also bring about further improvement.

With the trainer going well and Charles Bishop in the saddle, everything points to a big run.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Skylight (8/1 generally available – use BOG firms)
