Mont Des Avaloirs looks nicely treated on the pick of his form and worth siding with at 11/1 in the 1.45 at Aintree.
This Paul Nicholls trained six-year-old is 1-1 over course and distance and ran a blinder when third of nine to Global Citizen three starts back in the Listed 2m Gerry Fielden at Newbury when beaten just 1/2 a length into third behind Global Citizen off an official rating of 139.
He got put up to 142 for that and things haven’t quite gone to plan in two subsequent outings, albeit he was far from disgraced last time out when a 15 length seventh of 14 to Al Dancer in the Betfair Hurdle at Ascot.
He has subsequently been quickly dropped 3lb and is now able to race off 139 again.
It makes Mont Des Avaloirs a key player in the weights in this and he ran very well off just 2lb lower on his final start last season when a 3 1/2 length fourth of 20 to Ballymoy in a competitive class 2 affair at Sandown.
This flat track should also suit his hold up run style and he should get the strong pace he needs to aim at.
Underfoot conditions are also ideal and another plus is that the talented Lorcan Williams takes off 5lb with his claims, so everything looks in place for a huge run.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Mont Des Avaloirs (11/1 Betfair, Paddy Power – BOG, paying 5 places)
