Boxing betting preview: Abraham v Stieglitz

The King, Arthur Abraham, returns to our screens tonight as attempts to capture the WBO super middleweight title from Robert Stieglitz (9pm BoxNation).

Stieglitz is making his fifth defence of this title and on paper it looks perhaps his toughest assignment to date.

His opponent entered the “Super Six” tournament as many peoples and the the bookies favourite, but got brutal exposed at the highest level by Dirrell Ward and most famously of all by Nottingham’s very own Carl Froch.

Since those defeats Abraham has been looking to redeem his tainted reputation, but to be totally honest hasn’t really looked back to best in winning a UD over 12 rounds against former Degale victim Piotr Wilczewski and stopping the very average Pablo Farias in 5.

In Stieglitz he faces a decent European level opponent who possesses a decent work rate and a sturdy chin – and that possibly could be enough against the declining Abraham.

Abraham is what I call a “list fighter” in that I am always looking for opportunities to get him beat, and I think Stieglitz is terrific value to do just that and get our new season off to a winning start.

2.5pts Steglitz to beat Abraham 14/5 Sportingbet

0.5pts The Draw 30/1 Paddy Power
