Ami Desbois ran a stormer when runner-up last time out so no eased in grade looks worth siding with at 5/1 in the 3.35 at Sandown today. The Graeme McPherson trained nine-year-old went down all guns blazing when beaten just a neck by Classic Ben in a competitive 16-runner class 2 affair over course and distance. Kimberlite Candy, who came third, has since run well to finish fifth in the Eider at Newcastle whilst the fourth home Give Me A Copper is currently a top priced 6/1 favourite for the Ultima Handicap Chase on the opening day of the Cheltenham Festival next Tuesday. That gives the form a rock solid look in relation to this lower grade class 3 affair and although nudged up 4lb to a mark of 136 that still looks very exploitable given that Ami Desbois won over fences as a novice off an official rating of 141 and was an excellent fifth to Penhill in the Grade 1 Albert Bartlett at the 2017 Cheltenham Festival off 144.. Amis Desbois also has a 100 per cent strike rate in the grade (three from three) and ground which suits. Indeed, any more rain that fell would only further increase his chances.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Ami Desbois (5/1 Boylesports – BOG)
