Commando appeals under Kirby at Kempton

Dawn Commando has caught the eye in his last two outings, so now partnered by Adam Kirby for the first time looks worth a punt at 7/1 in the 8.30 at Kempton today. In the first of those over 7f at this venue he Daniel Kubler trained four-year-old finished seventh of 11 to Naralsaif but was only beaten 2 lengths. After racing towards the rear, Dawn Commando made good headway out wide to chase the leaders and hold every chance approaching the last before being unable to find any extra towards the finish. Given that he endured a bad trip out wide and gave away ground as a result it was a decent effort and a step in the right direction. Dawn Commando then attracted support over the 1m trip of this last time out at Chelmsford where after racing towards the rear in poor position he kept on to be a never nearer 4 1/2 length sixth of 12 to Irish Times. He has since been eased a further 2lb in the weights and having started life off in handicaps on a mark of 55 is now able to race off just 46. That looks exploitable and Dawn Commando now gets the services of Adam Kirby in the saddle for the first time. That’s interesting as he has only ever had six rides for the yard, finishing placed on two occasions.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Dawn Commando (7/1 Bet365 – BOG)
