Desert Dream looks nicely treated on the pick of his form and worth an each-way wager at 16/1 in the 5.40 at Newcastle today.
Mick Easterby’s four-year-old was last successful in a class 5 at Carlisle back in September when landing a late plunge by a short-head off a mark of 67.
He went on to make the fraem on three occasions, in the same grade off a mark of 70 – finishing runner-up twice and third on the other occasion.
Desert Dream is now able to race off 68, just 1lb higher than when last successful, and that gives him every chnace from a handicapping perspective having been rated as high as 81 in the past.
He also has a decent strike rate in the grade (class 5) havining won twice and been placed on three occasions from 11 starts.
that a strike rate of just under 50 per cent finishing in the first three and makes him a fascianting contende rin this.
At the odds on offer he looks overpriced to me and capabke of running a huge race in the hands of Nathan Evans who partnered him to his last success.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Desert Dream (16/1 BetVictor, Coral, William Hill – BOG)
