PSG brushed United aside in the first leg with a weakened side with the likes of Meunier, Neymar, Cavani and Rabiot not playing. Unfortunately for United, tonight should see the returns of Meunier and Rabiot with a decision being made during the day on Edinson Cavani. United were presented as the 11/8 favourites in their home leg but after a comfortable display from Tuchel’s side, PSG have been priced up as short as 1/2 for tonight’s game.
PSG’s home form across this competitive season has been nothing short of intimidating for any opposition, across the 21 home fixtures they’ve played they’ve only dropped 5 points with 2 being a draw in the group stages to Napoli. Kylian Mbappe loves playing at the Parc des Princes, in Ligue 1 he’s averaging 1.5 goals a game there and across all competitions at home he’s still averaging 1.15 so he’s a man to watch for for a goal or two tonight.
In comparison to the previous leg, United have got almost nothing going for them coming into the away fixture. PSG’s home form is a clear issue but the suspension of Paul Pogba will be a glaring miss in the middle of the park, he’s been influential since the arrival of Solskjaer and has been key in United’s 8/8 winning away record under Ole’s reign.
With Pogba missing, United would naturally look to Marcus Rashford for goals but he’s now scored 1 goal in 9 games and Romelu Lukaku has started picking up the slack. Lukaku had an excellent World Cup and since hasn’t looked very sharp at all until his 4 goals in the last 2 games where he’s looked a lot quicker on his feet and his finishing has been significantly improved.
United’s injury and missing list is extensive, Pogba has been mentioned but other than that they’ve got Herrera, Lingard and Mata all nursing hamstring injuries, Matic with a training injury, Sanchez with recent ligament damage and Valencia rehabilitating In Ecuador after a calf injury.
The United odds tonight are correctly large but Ole has clearly got a strong hold on the dressing room and will motivate his players but PSG have got an unbelievable home form record and it’s hard to look past.
PSG to win, Romelu Lukaku and Kylian Mbappe to score anytime is priced up @6/1
