Good Luck Charm is not badly treated on the pick of his form in the 2.50 at Kempton today and looks decent each-way value at 11/1.

Gary Moore’s gelding is a course and distance winner who took advantage of a drop in the weights to get back to winning ways on his penultimate start at Goodwood when running on strongly from off the pacxe in the hands of Ryan Moore to score by 1/2 a length off a mark of 74.

The five-year-old then ran far better than his finishing position suggests last time out over course and distance when fifth of 14 to Unforgiving Minute in a decent class 4 contest off 79.

He was ridden by a 7lb claimer that day and poorly positioned when the pace quickened, allowing the leaders to steal a march before staying on well to be beaten 5 1/2 lengths.

It was good effort under the circumstances, and Good Luck Charm is now able to race off 1lb lower.

His current mark of 78 looks workable given that he has twice finished runner-up off 80 and been rated as high as 83 in the pst 17 months, and with David Sweeney now taking over in the saddle everything looks in place for a big run from a good draw in stall 2.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Good Luck Charm (11/1 bet365, Betfred, BetVictor, William Hill – BOG)
