Tis Marvellous disappointed last time out but has some solid form at Ascot and looks weighted to go well and worth a wager at 15/2 in the 1.05 there today.
Clive Cox’s four-year-old was never going well at any stage before trailing in a well-beaten 25th of 26 to Gifted Master in the Stewards’ Cup at Goodwood.
It was too bad a run to be true and he is better judged on his run prior to that when a fine length fourth of 28 to Bacchus in the Wokingham here where he stayed on strongly to be gaining all the way to the line from a poor draw.
Tis Marvellous is able to race in this far less competitive affair off just 1lb higher and should be more than capable of winning a race of this nature off his current mark of 100, especially judged on his fourth to Blue Point in a Group 3 at this venue last season off an official rating of 110.
The winner has gone on to land this year’s Group 1 King’s Stand Stakes while the runner-up Harry Angel has gone on to bag a brace of Group 1s. They are two of the best sprinters around so that form is very strong in relation to this class 2 handicap.
Judged on that, and his run in the Wokingham, Tis Marvellous holds major claims in this at a track which clearly suits.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Tis Marvellous (15/2 generally available – use BOG firms)
